In 1931, the City of Laguna Beach purchased its first commercially built fire engine from Seagrave Fire Apparatus in Columbus, Ohio. Designed specifically for the unique conditions presented by Laguna’s hilly terrain, the fire engine was a point of great pride for the fledgling city. The Seagrave served our town until 1950 when it went into reserve status. Since then, the engine has participated in numerous parades and public education events. Unfortunately, time has taken a toll on the engine, which is no longer usable.
We are thrilled to launch a special initiative to restore the historic 1931 Seagrave Fire Engine. This iconic fire engine, deeply woven into the fabric of our community, holds a special place in our hearts and symbolizes our shared commitment to fire safety and protection.
To bring this significant restoration project to fruition, we seek your generous support through donations to the Laguna Beach Firefighters Community Assistance Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for standing with us in this endeavor to honor our firefighting legacy and preserve a piece of our community’s history. Your support is not just a donation; it’s a testament to the importance of our shared history. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that the 1931 Seagrave Fire Engine continues to inspire and educate for years to come.
